Therapeutic Background

I’m passionate about helping my clients to invite healing and empowerment into their lives. I help my clients to build on their inherent resiliency and provide them the tools they need to strengthen their relationships, look deeper at their thoughts and feelings, develop more effective ways of coping, and enact change in a way that helps them to start feeling better. I assist clients in their healing process through a combination of evidence-based techniques and support. I'm here to meet you where you are without judgment and to nurture an atmosphere of hope, compassion, and respect.

While I have years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families from a variety of backgrounds, I specialize in working with couples seeking to enhance conflict resolution, communication, and emotional connection, LGBTQIA+ youth, adults, couples, and families (particularly trans and gender diverse people), and survivors of trauma.

As a queer woman, my work in allyship to LGBTQIA+ communities is extremely important to me both personally and professionally. I am particularly passionate about working with trans and gender-diverse people and with their partners and families. Both in my research and my clinical work, I am committed to providing affirming care to LGBTQIA+ people.

Therapeutic Style

My therapeutic style is collaborative, strengths-based, compassionate, and empowering. I am trained in providing EMDR (both levels 1 and 2), Gottman Method Couple's Therapy (levels 1 and 2), Theraplay, and the Marschak Interaction Method (Foundational Theraplay Practitioner Certification). In addition to using these models, I also have years of experience incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, mindful self-compassion, internal family systems (IFS), trauma-informed therapy practices, expressive play therapy practices (both directive and non-directive approaches), experiential therapy, attachment theory, systems work, and LGBTQ+ affirmative practices into my clinical work.

I strive to connect with and foster a trusting relationship with each person I work with. My clients have described me as warm, down-to-earth, calming, knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to.

Personal Background

While I’m originally from San Diego, Utah has become my second home. When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy gardening, reading, drinking tea, camping with my wife and child, and spending time with my many pets. I have dogs, cats, and a ball python.
